The conference „Mobile Europe: New Opportunities and Strategies” and the workshop „IST in 7th Framework Programme: benefits for active participants” are being organized by INFOBALT (Association of  Lithuanian Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Office Equipment companies) and VITP (Visoriai Information Technology Park) in the frame of the project “Information Society Promotion in Baltic States” (IST4BALT). The project is funded by Information Society Technologies Programme of the European Union. The event is being organized in co-operation with “Earth Data Networks for Education and Scientific Exchange” (EDNES), France.

The conference will aim at strengthening of the scientific and technological co-operation between the European Union and the Baltic countries in the field of mobile applications to new methods of work, business, research and development, e-government. The extended conference program will bring together not only participants, but also experts, as well as top-class speakers. The latest IT trends and themes will be discussed at the conference.

IST4Balt conference will review the achievements of the Baltic countries’ mobile communications industry and the importance of the development of mobile applications in the European and global markets. The conference will also address such topics as importance of mobile applications and services in a knowledge society, state strategies and business investments into mobile communications, R&D and innovations, broadband Internet, mobile and wireless solutions.

The workshop aims to stimulate wider participation of organizations/companies from Baltic States in IST programme. Possibilities and issues concerning participation in  FP7, success stories and benefits from participation in the programme and instruments provided by the IST will be presented at the workshop.  The event is going to bring together individuals, groups and communities interested in joint activities within IST programme projects and provide floor for presentations of possible collaboration grounds and forms. The workshop will also serve as networking and matchmaking tool stimulating participation in further FP7 calls. 

This year the Workshop is going to address such collaboration form as Technology Platforms, review local and European experience and provide the companies and organizations from Baltic States with the possibilities and recommendations concerning development of such cooperation.

Projects, networks, research institutions and companies involved in IST programme and other players of mobile communications and applications sectors are encouraged to participate in the conference and the Workshop and submit papers for presentation.
